About Roger Leonard

Roger Leonard qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1981. He has worked in Ireland, Australia and Canada and has held positions as Senior and Head Occupational Therapist. He was the Director of Services of an Irish national voluntary organisation providing services to people with an acquired disability. He is a member of and a former council member of the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland. He was a founding member and the first vice chairperson of the Irish Association of Supported Employment.

Since 1997 he has worked full time in private practice. He specialises in writing independent reports for the courts dealing with the impact of an injury on an individual's work status.

Where do I attend the appointment?

If your appointment is a remote one Mr. Leonard will contact you in your home. If it is face to face he will meet you at the Rochestown Lodge Hotel in Dun Laoghaire. There is a map below, or you can consult their website. There is free parking and a bus service. The meeting room is wheelchair accessible.

Why has my solicitor or an insurance company asked me to meet Mr. Leonard?

A Vocational Assessment Report will assist the process of calculating the compensation due to you for your injuries. The report will assist the court/tribunal to ensure you are fairly compensated.

Can I be accompanied at the assessment?

Yes, please feel free to bring one family member or one friend if you would like to.

How much will it cost?

Mr. Leonard's service has been retained by your solicitor, the defendant or the insurance company and they are responsible for the assessment and report fee. You do not have to pay a fee at the time of the appointment.

Does Mr. Leonard assess clients for housing adaptations or equipment?

Why does the interview take so long?

In order to write a comprehensive report Mr. Leonard will require details of how you are affected by the injury, both inside and outside of work. This means that the interview could last up to two hours. He will require a detailed educational and work history. Bring along details of your school and work history. Mr. Leonard may ask you to undertake some tests or to complete some questionnaires during the interview. Do not worry about these tests. Mr. Leonard will help you to complete them if necessary. If you use reading glasses be sure to bring them along.
